Child labour is problem of every developing and poor country. The situation of child labour in Pakistan is not good and numbers of child labourers in Pakistan are increasing with rapid pace. Although Pakistan child labour laws are in place but no body is acting on them due to poverty and corruption. Followings are child labour in Pakistan statistics and facts.
According to all Pakistan Labour Force Survey 2007 and 208, over 21 million child labourers are working in the country out of which 73 percent are boys and 27 percent are girls. The age group of these child labourers is between 10 to 14 years. According to survey of Pakistan National Child Labour Survey in 1996 more than 3.3 million children between age group of 5 to 14 years were working.
The situation is worst in rural areas where those child labourers work without any compensation or pay and their masters only provides them shelter and food. The basic reason or causes of child labour in Pakistan are poverty and ignorance. In a country where more than 50 percent people lives below poverty line it is very difficult to completely eradicate the menace of child labour.
